About Alda
Clinical experience shaped by culture, education, and human connection.
Alda Sousa is a Florida Licensed Mental Health Counselor who provides individual and family psychotherapy in Portuguese and English for patients ages 13 and older. Her clinical experience includes supporting patients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, autism-related needs, adjustment difficulties, behavioral concerns, and acculturation stress.
Her work with immigrant youth and families has given her a meaningful understanding of the emotional complexities that can accompany relocation, cultural transition, family separation, and forming a new identity while staying connected to one’s roots.
Before and alongside her clinical career, Alda built extensive experience in education, mentoring, public speaking, and multicultural environments. Today, that background helps her communicate with warmth and clarity while creating a therapeutic relationship in which patients can feel respected and genuinely understood.

Yes. Alda speaks Portuguese and English, allowing patients to discuss personal and emotional concerns in the language that feels most natural to them.
Does Alda offer online therapy?
Alda offers telehealth therapy for eligible patients located in Florida. Contact our team to confirm availability and whether telehealth is appropriate for your needs.
Does every session include Christian counseling?
No. Faith-integrated counseling is optional and may be incorporated only when it is requested by the patient and appropriate to the patient’s goals and preferences.
Does Alda provide autism evaluations or psychological testing?
Alda provides psychotherapy and skills-based support informed by training and experience with autism and executive functioning. This page does not represent formal psychological, neuropsychological, or autism diagnostic testing. Please contact our office if you need help identifying the appropriate evaluation service.
Does Alda prescribe medication?
No. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Alda provides psychotherapy rather than prescribing medication. Brain Health Psychiatry also offers psychiatric evaluations and medication management with qualified psychiatric providers when clinically appropriate.
Does Brain Health Psychiatry accept insurance?
Alda accepts Oscar and Florida Blue. Coverage, copays, deductibles, and eligibility depend on the patient’s individual plan, so our team will verify benefits before the appointment.
